Visiting Angels Palos Verdes’ local co-owners Duane Karons and Marian Sullivan-Karons have personally experienced how senior home care services can make a difference during a stressful time. After experiencing severe chest pains, Duane underwent emergency open-heart surgery in 2020.

Like other Palos Verdes families faced with hospitalization, surgery and recovery, they found themselves needing assistance after Duane finally returned home after many weeks of ups and downs.

So, Stan, a longtime caregiver at Visiting Angels Palos Verdes, cared for Duane when Marian needed to go into the office. Stan helped with cooking, bathing, dressing, walking, physical therapy and laundry. He would even sit in the ER with Duane when he was having difficulty with medications or pain.

Today, Duane has since undergone a second open-heart surgery, but he’s recovering well and is back to work (from home).
